Elevate Talent Advisors LLC is seeking a Controller with deep construction accounting experience to lead the finance arm of a lean, growing contractor in Elk Grove Village, IL. You will own owner billing, draws, and job costing, coordinating with PMs and title companies to ensure accuracy and timely funding.

The role demands hands-on control over AP/AR, payroll, month-end close, and internal controls, with collaboration to improve forecasting and profitability while protecting sensitive

Qualifications

• 7+ years of construction accounting experience, incl 3+ years at Controller level with GC or subcontractor.
• Hands-on with G702/G703 pay apps, sworn statements, lien waivers, and title company draws.
• Illinois construction experience strongly preferred and Mechanics Lien Act knowledge.
• Experience with construction revenue recognition, %-of-completion, and WIP reporting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; CPA a plus.
• Advanced Excel; Procore familiarity a plus.

Responsabilités

• Owner billing: G702/G703, SVs, retainage, and backup docs with PMs.
• Construction draws: sworn statements, waivers, and funding coordination.
• Subcontractor/supplier compliance: proper waivers and insurance certs.
• Accounts payable: job/cost code coding, PM approvals, checks/ACH/1099s.
• Accounts receivable: billing follow-up and collections; retainage.
• Payroll: field and office payroll, prevailing wage when required.
• Job costing and WIP: accuracy in ComputerEase, monthly WIP schedule.
• Month-end close: reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, financials.
• Cash management: weekly cash position and rolling forecast.
• External relationships: CPA, bank, surety, insurance broker.
• Budgeting and financial planning with Principals.
• Internal controls: workflows, segregation of duties, procedures.
• Supervising accounting staff.
