Job summary

The Bolton Group is seeking an experienced Construction Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and controls for a growing construction organization in Charlotte, NC. The role partners with executives and project teams to drive accurate reporting and strong financial discipline.

The ideal candidate has deep construction accounting knowledge, including job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, plus proven leadership and collaboration

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 8+ years of accounting experience; construction industry required.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statements, and internal controls.
• Experience with job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with finance and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly and year-end close, general ledger, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Lead construction accounting, including job costing, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion accounting, and revenue recognition.
• Monitor project budgets, cost-to-complete estimates, change orders, and job profitability.
• Oversee project billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, retainage, and cash flow forecasting.
• Partner with project managers and operational leadership to identify cost overruns, margin risks, and financial trends.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and management reports to support business decisions.
• Maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance with GAAP.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members while improving processes and reporting accuracy.
