Job summary

Development Solutions, Inc. in Illinois seeks an experienced Controller to oversee all accounting and financial operations for a growing construction company.

You will manage financial reporting, job costing, budgeting, cash flow, and ensure GAAP compliance, working closely with operations, project management and ownership. The ideal candidate has deep construction accounting expertise and a proactive approach to internal controls, reporting, and strategic planning, with leadership opportunities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
• 10+ years accounting experience, with 5+ years in construction accounting.
• Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP, percentage-of-completion, and retainage.
• Proficiency with construction accounting software (Sage/Viewpoint/Procore).
• Strong written, verbal and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, GL, and month-end close.
• Manage job costing, including WIP schedules and cost-to-complete analysis.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Monitor project profitability, overhead allocation, and variance analysis.
• Coordinate with external CPA for audits, tax filings, and reviews.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and strong internal controls.
