Job summary

Gilbane Building is seeking a highly technical Business Controller to ensure timely and accurate BU financial reports and safeguard assets for a single business unit. You will work with department heads to align overheads and financials while leading a team in a dynamic construction environment.

The role requires strong communication, expert financial reporting skills, and hands-on leadership to drive forecasting, budgeting, and capital expenditure processes across the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 8-10 years of experience.
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Confirms basic internal controls are in place and properly maintained.
• Ensures financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting across start dates, completion dates, fee sales and forecasts.
• Certifies each project forecast is properly setup per contract and reporting accuracy.
• Ensures non-reimbursable cost policy is adhered to with proper approvals.
• Analyzes balance sheet accounts monthly and takes corrective action as needed.
• Manages capital expenditures per policy and region.
• Drives timely monthly closing and profit recognition.
• Implements quality measures for AR with zero delinquencies and no unbilled costs.
• Oversees invoice review/approval procedures and timely time reporting.
• Acts as admin manager for regional office operations and facilities.
