Job summary

Gibson Dunn seeks a Senior Manager, Conflicts Attorneys (U.S.) to lead the U.S. conflicts team, oversee clearance operations for new clients and matters, and serve as a senior escalation point on sensitive issues.

The role includes mentoring staff, shaping policy, and coordinating with international teams for global coverage. The position reports to the Director of Conflicts Attorneys & Assistant General Counsel and entails developing a scalable workflow, training, and technology improvements to

Qualifications

• Substantial knowledge of conflict-of-interest principles under ABA rules.
• Experience analyzing and resolving conflicts in a large law firm.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the U.S. Conflicts Attorneys team and manage workload across U.S. time zones.
• Coordinate handover with international conflicts team to cover global queue.
• Mentor, train, and provide performance feedback to staff and attorneys.
• Act as senior escalation point for complex conflicts and approve clearance decisions.
• Analyze conflict reports for new representations to ensure compliance with policies.
• Draft ethics wall memos and obtain waivers as needed.
• Communicate with partners and leadership on complex conflicts issues.
• Oversee client outside counsel guideline reviews and escalate issues.
• Collaborate with GC and information governance on screening restrictions.
• Develop, document, and maintain conflicts policies and precedent libraries.
• Report on service levels and drive process improvements.
• Partner with Legal Operations on technology configuration and enhancements.
• Lead training on new matter approval process and screening obligations.
• Assist in lateral hiring conflicts process and pre-arrival screening.
• Maintain records of conflicts resolutions.
• Provide coverage for leadership as needed.
