Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Configuration Engineer to support VA applications and drive cloud migration. The role requires strong CM and release engineering expertise, collaboration with stakeholders, and mentoring junior staff.

The position is 100% remote with US-based eligibility, and a Public Trust (MBI) clearance is preferred. Bachelor’s degree plus 10+ years of experience are required, with a compensation range of $74,325–$82,500.

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading and delivering complex software builds and releases.
• Experience in large regulated or federal environments.
• Deep expertise in software configuration management and release engineering.
• Broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.
• Experience with CM practices and source control systems.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and migrate to the cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software and COTS products.
• Perform CM and release engineering to document and align with hardware configurations.
• Design and automate productivity tools to improve modeling and development.
• Develop build procedures for software product development and use.
• Set software configuration standards for company-wide use.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality standards.
• Provide technical guidance for complex problems.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and lead junior analysts/engineers in CM practices.
