Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Configuration Engineer to lead software configuration management and release engineering across multiple environments. The role focuses on migrating VA applications to the cloud, building CM tooling, and ensuring compliant, repeatable deployment processes.

You will train developers in CM practices, guide junior engineers, and collaborate with stakeholders to solve complex configuration challenges while maintaining strong technical and communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in configuration management and release engineering.
• Experience in large, regulated or federal environments.
• Strong knowledge of CM processes: identification, baselining, change control, status accounting.
• Proficiency with Git, GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps Repos, and Subversion.
• Hands-on with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions) and artifact repos.
• Scripting experience (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
• Infrastructure as code experience (Ansible, Terraform).
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to mentor teams.
• Familiarity with project management and documentation tools (JIRA, Azure Boards, Confluence).

Responsabilités

• Lead and deliver complex software builds and releases across environments.
• Develop and maintain CM tools to support identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software products.
• Design and implement build procedures for product development and deployment.
• Provide technical guidance and solutions for CM challenges.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality standards; mentor junior staff.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliant, repeatable processes.
• Migrate VA applications to cloud and maintain tooling for automation.
• Ensure version control, baselining, and change control are consistently applied.
