Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Configuration Engineer to lead software configuration management and release engineering for VA programs. This remote, full-time role demands expertise in CM tools, CI/CD, and collaboration across multiple teams to ensure compliant builds and deployments.

You will migrate VA applications to the cloud, develop reusable CM standards, and train developers in CM practices.

Qualifications

• Experience leading complex software builds and releases.
• Experience in regulated enterprises or federal environments.
• Deep CM, release engineering expertise.
• Broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.
• Experience with CM practices (identification, baselining, change control, status accounting).
• Familiarity with multiple SCM tools and branching strategies.
• Strong communication and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and migrate to the cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software and COTS products.
• Perform CM and release engineering to document and align with hardware configurations.
• Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools to improve software modeling and development.
• Design and implement build procedures for software product development and use.
• Develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality standards.
• Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems.
• Operate autonomously and make sound decisions.
• Ensure repeatable build and deployment processes across projects.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead and train junior analysts/engineers in CM best practices.
