Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory is seeking an experienced Senior Communications Security (COMSEC) Supervisor to manage the APL COMSEC account and lead a team of COMSEC Custodians. You will ensure secure voice and data operations across national security programs in a fast-paced environment.

You will supervise procedures, maintain NSA/CSS policy compliance, arrange training, and coordinate with sponsors, vendors, and program staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (ten years).
• Five+ years as a primary/alternate COMSEC custodian or EKMS account manager or similar role.
• Experience with NSA COMSEC management policies and CNSSI.
• Experience with COMSEC account software such as DIAS or KMI.
• Experience handling classified cryptographic materials and devices (Vipers, STE, SWT, TACLANEs).
• Experience implementing COMSEC under NISPOM.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Active DoD Top Secret clearance with potential TS/SCI+ poly.
• Knowledge of contractor COMSEC operations and related security requirements.
• Completion of NSA COMSEC Account Manager Training (IAEC-2112) and KMI training.

Responsibilities

• Lead the COMSEC team and manage the APL COMSEC account per NSA/CSS 3-16 and sponsor regulations.
• Oversee procedures for mandatory government compliance and accountability of cryptographic materials.
• Supervise ordering, tracking, receiving, issuing, and destruction of COMSEC materials.
• Conduct periodic inspections, inventories, and audits of COMSEC materials.
• Collaborate with staff, vendors, and sponsors to manage CCI procurement and NSA procedures.
