Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Program Security Specialist to provide top-tier PERSEC support for collateral, SAP, and SCI programs. You'll join a dynamic team, collaborating with PSRs and SSRs to lead security portfolios and ensure compliance across multiple sponsors.

The role requires knowledge of DoD directives, experience with DISS/NBIS, and the ability to obtain US citizenship with TS/SCI eligibility. A Bachelor's in security/IT is required; Master’s preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Security, IT, Business Administration or related field.
• Exposure to Special Access Program Security incl. DoD Manuals and ICDs, NISPOM and supplements.
• Excellent customer service, speaking and writing skills.
• Experience working in teams and matrix environments.
• Ability to collaborate on security policy and procedures.
• Strong working knowledge of DISS/NBIS databases.
• Must be able to obtain Top Secret clearance by start date and eventually TS/SCI; U.S. citizenship required.
• Master’s degree and direct experience with compartmented/special program security officers is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide PERSEC expertise and support for PSRs and SSRs within the Program Security Group (ZPP).
• Analyze and validate program nomination/access documentation for government submission.
• Develop and manage electronic PERSEC portfolios across systems.
• Liaise with senior management, program managers and cleared staff.
• Manage Annual Security Refresher (ASR) training for cleared staff.
• Create and disseminate security incident reports to security staff.
• Develop tracking for cleared staff Continuous Evaluation status.
• Provide PERSEC oversight during sponsor inspections.
• Maintain PERSEC records across electronic repositories (Service Now, SIMS, JADE, etc.).
• Exercise analytical, organizational, and relationship oversight competencies.
• Perform PERSEC actions in unclassified, SAP and SCI facilities.
• Process on/off-boarding of security classifications.
• Exhibit professionalism and operate with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
