Job summary

Berkshire Grey, Inc. is seeking an experienced software engineer to advance trailer-unload computer vision for real-world robotic systems. You will prototype solutions, mentor juniors, and help transition prototypes to product teams.

The role emphasizes Python and C++, PyTorch, and robotics expertise, with exposure to ROS/ROS2, Docker, and model-based as well as data-driven approaches. You will work in a fast-paced environment addressing dynamic trailer environments.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Robotics, ML, Computer Science or a closely related field.
• 4+ years of experience in software development with a focus on robotic manipulation or related areas.
• Strong development expertise in Python and C++.
• Experience with major deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
• Experience with data science tools & libraries like NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, Matplotlib, scikit-learn.

Responsibilities

• Develop solution prototypes for computer vision problems to improve robots’ abilities and speed.
• Prototype solutions quickly, creating demos for stakeholders and visitors.
• Serve as subject matter expert for transitioning prototypes to product teams.
• Identify high impact areas for improvements of robotic systems.
• Stay abreast of latest advancements in robotics, evaluating applicability to challenges.
• Assist with mentorship of junior engineers or interns.
• Communicate technical priorities and status.
