Job summary

Berkshire Grey in Massachusetts is seeking a Research Engineer to advance robotics and machine learning for real-world warehouse systems. You will work on training ML models, robot policy learning data collection, and integration across robot drivers and orchestration systems.

The role requires a Master’s in Robotics or related field, strong Python and C++, ROS/ROS2 experience, and ability to prototype and deliver production-ready features. Occasional travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Robotics, Machine Learning, Computer Science or closely related field.
• Experience in software development in robotics or automation roles.
• Strong development expertise in Python and C++.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to training and adapting machine learning architectures for robot learning and visual scene understanding.
• Contribute to development of robot policy learning data collection applications.
• Determine suitable data for fine-tuning robot foundation models across tasks and environments.
• Stay abreast of robotics advancements and evaluate applicability to BG challenges.
• Collaborate with external research partners to solve BG’s problem space.
• Mentor junior engineers or interns.
• Prototype solutions quickly and create demos for stakeholders.
• Own solutions from prototype to production-ready features.
