Job summary

Simbe Robotics is hiring a Senior Computer Vision / Applied AI Engineer to build production AI systems that convert store imagery into trusted retail intelligence. You will work on dense product detection, OCR, barcode decoding, visual search, and model evaluation across real-world data.

The role emphasizes rapid iteration, dataset curation, and collaboration with Product, Data, and Robotics Software teams to deliver measurable customer impact in retail environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in computer vision, applied machine learning, robotics perception, or related production AI systems.
• Strong Python experience and hands on experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience training and evaluating object detection, segmentation, OCR, visual search, or image recognition models.
• Experience building maintainable production code and data pipelines in a Linux based environment.
• Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted coding and automation tools to accelerate software development and debugging.
• Strong understanding of dataset curation, annotation quality, model evaluation, and experimentation.

Responsibilities

• Build production CV models: design, train, validate, and deploy models for object detection, segmentation, OCR, barcode localization, and more.
• Own dataset quality: curate, clean, version, and analyze large real-world training datasets.
• Improve model performance: explore architectures, losses, data augmentation, and evaluation improvements.
• Support model releases: validation gates, inference wrappers, ONNX/TensorRT exports, production monitoring.
• Develop tooling: internal tools for model evaluation, annotation review, data visualization, and deployment readiness.
• Partner cross-functionally: work with Product, Customer Success, Data, Robotics Software, and Field Ops.
• Stay current with open vocabulary detection, multimodal product understanding, and edge inference.
