Job summary

UW Medicine’s Ambulatory Business Operations is seeking a Senior Computer Specialist to provide technical and operational expertise across the ambulatory network. The role leads groups, meetings, and projects while supporting front office operations and clinical workflows.

Responsibilities include implementing IT operations best practices, refining ambulatory policies, and delivering EpicCare training to staff. A bachelor’s degree and ambulatory care experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, education, healthcare, or a related field is required.
• At least two years of experience in an acute or ambulatory care setting.
• Strong understanding and experience in IT/computer/application support and analysis.

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

Provide technical and operational subject matter expertise, training, technical support, and operational alignment within the ambulatory network and across UW Medicine. This position will lead some groups, meetings, technical projects, Ops Essentials training, and activities including the Mission Forward clinic operations activities and ongoing front office operations meetings.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Implement industry best practices in IT operations, ensuring adherence to standards for efficiency, security, and reliability
• Develop and refine ambulatory operations policies to align with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements
• Provide comprehensive application support for EpicCare utilized in ambulatory clinics, assisting users in troubleshooting and optimizing system usage
• Proactively identify technical and workflow barriers, collaborating with stakeholders to address and resolve issues
• Deliver effective training on Epic and other business software to both new and existing UWMC staff through various formats including in person in conference or computer classrooms, online, or at the elbow in a clinic
• Develop and update end-user training materials to support ongoing learning and proficiency

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, business, education, healthcare, or a related field AND at least two (2) years of experience working in an acute or ambulatory care setting
• Minimum one year of experience in either technical computer training or end-user application development or support
• Strong understanding and experience in IT/computer/application support and analysis

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
