Job summary

Barbaricum is seeking a highly experienced Computer Engineer IV (UI/UX SME) to support Software & Cyber Engineering for Maneuver, Surveillance, & Engagement Systems at NSWC Crane. This remote role requires occasional on-site work in Crane, IN, and involves leading the design and deployment of cloud-enabled AI/ML solutions for warfighter capabilities.

Qualifications include 10+ years in UX design and software development, DoD defense experience, and DoD 8570 certification.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
10+ years of progressive UX design and software development experience.
Expertise in developing, deploying, and securing applications in defense environments.
Data science, dashboard development, interface design, system/data architecture; Qlik experience a plus.
Experience with LLMs, MLOps, and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
Strong software and cyber engineering background: hardening, secure coding, vulnerability mitigation.
Proven ability to lead complex technical efforts, mentor engineers, and interface with government stakeholders.
DoD 8570 Advanced certification (e.g., SecurityX, GCSA, CCSP, or equivalent) must be obtained and maintained.

Responsibilities

Define objectives for UI/UX systems for defense missions with PMs and engineers.
Develop and prototype UI/UX systems for mission requirements (CV, sensor fusion, decision-support).
Conduct rigorous testing against operational data.
Analyze test data for model strengths/weaknesses and relevance.
Refine systems for robustness, scalability, and cyber resilience.
Provide documentation and reports to stakeholders.
Stay current on AI/ML tech and cyber defense techniques relevant to mission systems.
