Job summary

Barbaricum seeks a Senior AI/ML Engineer to support Software & Cyber Engineering for the Maneuver, Surveillance, & Engagement Division at NSWC Crane. You will lead the development of cloud-enabled AI/ML solutions for warfighter surveillance, targeting, and engagement operations.

The role requires 10+ years of AI/ML experience, DoD/secure cloud exposure, and proficiency with PyTorch/TensorFlow, LLMs, and MLOps. Collaboration with project managers and engineers is essential for mission success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline; Master’s preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in AI/ML engineering, software development, or data science.
• Experience with LLMs, RAG, MLOps pipelines, and modern ML frameworks like PyTorch/TensorFlow.
• Experience developing AI/ML in DoD or defense environments and in secure cloud environments (GovCloud).

This position will lead efforts in engineering, building, testing, and deploying advanced cloud-enabled AI/ML solutions that enhance warfighter capabilities in surveillance, targeting, and engagement operations.

• 10+ years of progressive experience in AI/ML engineering, software development, or applied data science.
• Expertise in developing, deploying, and securing AI/ML applications within mission-critical or defense environments.
• Demonstrated experience with LLMs, RAG, MLOps pipelines, and modern ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Experience using AWS GovCloud (COSMOS) or comparable secure cloud environments to develop, train, test, and evaluate AI/ML models while leveraging scalable computing resources to support software and cyber engineering initiatives.
• DoD 8570 Advanced certification (e.g., SecurityX, GCSA, CCSP, or equivalent) must be obtained and maintained.
