Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Architect to lead the architecture and design of our Compute Platform, embedding with engineering teams to shape the next generation of IaaS and Kubernetes-based services.

You will own system design, drive PoCs, and collaborate with product managers to inform the roadmap while mentoring teams and promoting best practices in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent.
• Extensive experience building and operating highly available, fault-tolerant, large-scale distributed production services using Virtualization and Cloud-Native technologies (e.g. qemu, kvm, Cilium).
• Advanced knowledge of operating systems, linux internals, virtualization technologies, hypervisors, performance optimization.
• Solid understanding of containers and related technologies (systemd, docker, containerd, Kubernetes).
• Significant experience with Linux, Go, Python, Bash.
• Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS and experience with one or more public cloud offerings.

Responsibilities

• Owning the system design and implementation, guiding engineering while aligning with the big picture.
• Building proof of concepts to inform design choices and technology recommendations.
• Collaborating with product managers and architects to shape product direction.
• Contributing to the engineering roadmap with management and stakeholders.
• Developing best practices, sharing knowledge, and mentoring.
• Working with Agile teams to deliver innovative solutions and rapid development cycles.
