Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. seeks a Senior Architect to lead OS/kernel/hypervisor architecture for our Compute Platform, embedding with engineering teams to design scalable IaaS and Kubernetes-based services.

You will own system design, drive proof-of-concept work, and shape the engineering roadmap with product stakeholders, mentoring others in an Agile, fast-moving environment. You will bring deep Linux expertise, virtualization, and hands-on leadership in large distributed systems, with

Qualifications

12+ years of relevant experience with architecture.
Extensive experience building/operating highly available distributed production services using virtualization and cloud-native tech.
Advanced knowledge of operating systems, Linux internals, virtualization, hypervisors, performance optimization.
Experience with containers and related tech (systemd, docker, containerd, Kubernetes).
Experience with Linux, Go, Python, Bash.
Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS with public cloud experience.

Responsibilities

Own the system design and implementation, guiding engineering while aligning with the big picture.
Build proof-of-concepts to inform design choices and technology selection.
Collaborate with product managers and product architects to shape product direction.
