Job summary

Akamai is seeking a Senior II Software Engineer to design and scale ARM64 compute platform functionality and integrate hypervisors across the Akamai Connected Cloud. You will contribute to instance management, platform services, and APIs, collaborating with global teams.

You will work with Python, Go, C/C++, or Rust to build high quality code, participate in design reviews, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring robust, scalable software across Linux environments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience in software engineering.
• Experience with full software development life cycle including code reviews, release management and support.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, C/C++, or Rust.
• Experience with cloud compute virtualization technologies (KVM, QEMU), container runtimes, Linux system APIs.
• Experience with web applications, microservices, RESTful APIs, and database design patterns.
• Strong debugging, profiling and troubleshooting across distributed Linux systems and databases.

Responsibilities

• Designing and scaling ARM64 compute platform functionality, hypervisor integration, and instance management across ACC.
• Developing low-level platform services, resource orchestration tools, and compute APIs using Python, Go, or compiled systems languages.
• Designing, implementing, reviewing, documenting, and testing high quality code in close collaboration with your team.
• Working closely with peers, and coordinating with global teams to build new features or resolve software Bugs.
• Participating in technical design reviews and mentoring junior team members on infrastructure initiatives.
