Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is hiring a Senior II Software Engineer to design and scale ARM64 compute platform functionality and hypervisor integration within the Akamai Connected Cloud (ACC).

You will develop low-level platform services and APIs using Python, Go, C/C++, or Rust, collaborating with global teams to deliver robust features. Mentoring junior engineers is expected, and you will participate in design reviews to ensure high-quality code.

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or its equivalent.
• Experience with full software development life cycle including code reviews, release management and support.
• Proficiency with Python, Go, C/C++, or Rust.
• Experience with cloud compute virtualization technologies (KVM, QEMU), container runtimes, Linux system APIs, or hypervisor integration.
• Experience with web application development, microservices, RESTful APIs, and database design patterns.
• Excellent debugging, profiling, and troubleshooting skills across distributed Linux systems and database layers.

Responsibilities

• Designing and scaling ARM64 compute platform functionality, hypervisor integration, and instance management across ACC.
• Developing low-level platform services, resource orchestration tools, and compute APIs using Python, Go, or compiled systems languages.
• Designing, implementing, reviewing, documenting, and testing high quality code in close collaboration with your team.
• Working closely with peers, and coordinating with global teams to build new features or resolve software Bugs.
• Participating in technical design reviews and mentoring junior team members on infrastructure initiatives.
