Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior II Software Engineer to design and scale ARM64 compute platform functionality, participate in hypervisor integration, and drive instance management across the Akamai Connected Cloud.

You will develop core platform services using Python and Go, collaborate with global teams, and mentor colleagues while delivering high-quality, scalable software in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or its equivalent.
• Experience with the full software development life cycle including code reviews, release management and support.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, C/C++, or Rust.
• Experience with cloud compute virtualization technologies (KVM, QEMU), container runtimes, Linux system APIs, or hypervisor integration.
• Experience with web application development, microservices, micro-orchestration, RESTful APIs, and database design patterns.
• Excellent debugging, profiling, and troubleshooting skills across distributed Linux systems and database layers.

Responsibilities

• Designing and scaling ARM64 compute platform functionality, hypervisor integration, and instance management across ACC.
• Developing low-level platform services, resource orchestration tools, and compute APIs using Python, Go, or C/C++, or Rust.
• Designing, implementing, reviewing, documenting, and testing high quality code in close collaboration with your team.
• Working closely with peers, and coordinating with global teams to build new features or resolve software Bugs.
• Participating in technical design reviews and mentoring junior team members on infrastructure initiatives.
