Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior II Software Engineer to help design and scale the next generation of cloud compute for the Akamai Connected Cloud.

You will work on core compute platform infrastructure, APIs, and instance orchestration for ARM64 environments across global teams. You will develop low-level services using Python, Go, C/C++, or Rust, collaborate on hypervisor integration with KVM/QEMU, and contribute to RESTful APIs, microservices, and database design patterns.

Qualifications

• 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree in CS or equivalent.
• Experience with the full software development life cycle including code reviews, release management and support
• Proficiency developing software in Python, Go, C/C++, or Rust.
• Experience with cloud compute virtualization technologies (KVM, QEMU), container runtimes, Linux system APIs, or hypervisor integration.
• Experience with web application development, microservices, micro-orchestration, RESTful APIs, and database design patterns.
• Excellent debugging, profiling, and troubleshooting skills across distributed Linux systems and database layers.

Responsibilities

• Designing and scaling ARM64 compute platform functionality, hypervisor integration, and instance management across ACC.
• Developing low-level platform services, resource orchestration tools, and compute APIs using Python, Go, or compiled systems languages.
• Designing, implementing, reviewing, documenting, and testing high quality code in close collaboration with your team.
• Working closely with peers, and coordinating with global teams to build new features or resolve software Bugs.
• Participating in technical design reviews and mentoring junior team members on infrastructure initiatives.
