Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. in the US is seeking a Senior Architect to lead OS, hypervisor, VM and container architecture for our Compute Platform and IaaS products. You will work embedded with engineering teams, shaping infrastructure services and cloud-native designs.

As a Senior Architect you will own system design, build PoCs, and guide technology choices. You will mentor, align roadmaps with product and engineering, and drive agile collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• 12 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Experience building and operating highly available distributed production services.
• Advanced knowledge of Linux, virtualization, and OS internals.
• Strong experience with containers and related tech (systemd, Docker, Kubernetes).

Responsibilities

• Own the system design and implementation, guiding engineering while aligning with the big picture.
• Build proof-of-concepts to help make design choices and recommend technologies.
• Collaborate with product managers and architects to inform product direction.
• Contribute to and help shape the engineering roadmap with management and stakeholders.
• Develop best practices, share knowledge, and mentor others.
• Collaborate with engineering teams in an Agile environment that fosters innovation.
