Job summary

Cadence Design Systems seeks a Computational Structural Dynamicist to develop solver capabilities for automotive and aerospace industries. You will design, implement, and enhance advanced structural dynamics algorithms in our flagship finite element program, Cadence Design System’s suite, working closely with Product Management to meet demanding aerospace and automotive requirements.

Qualifications

• PhD required in a relevant engineering field.
• Proven experience implementing, enhancing, and debugging algorithms inside a commercial-grade parallel finite element code.
• Strong proficiency in C++, FORTRAN and Python and comfortable navigating/refactoring the codebase.
• Mastery of advanced structural dynamics including transient, modal, frequency-response, and non-linear analyses.
• Strong expertise in applied linear algebra for engineering mechanics (sparse solvers, eigenvalue problems).
• Background debugging and optimizing parallel programming paradigms (MPI, OpenMP).

Responsibilities

• Algorithm Development: implement and optimize advanced structural dynamics in FEA software.
• Architecture & Design: translate automotive/aerospace requirements into robust software designs.
• Mathematical Modeling: apply high-level linear algebra to mechanics problems.
• High-Performance Computing: develop and optimize parallel code for modern hardware.
• Code Maintenance & Troubleshooting: diagnose and fix complex numerical issues in a large legacy and modern Fortran/C++ codebase.
