Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Computational Designer to advance data center and industrial project automation within its Design Computing team. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, and IT to translate project needs into scalable computational workflows that enhance BIM delivery and project outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Design Computing, Computational Design, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional experience applying computational design within architectural, engineering, industrial, mission critical, or integrated multidisciplinary design practice.
• Experience applying computational design to data centers, industrial facilities, or similar complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Apply computational design methods to mission critical, data center, industrial, advanced manufacturing, and other technically complex building projects.
• Develop parametric and data-driven workflows linking geometry, program, planning criteria, engineering inputs, equipment layouts, system requirements, and documentation outputs.
• Lead automation opportunities and build Revit-based automations using Dynamo, Rhino.Inside.Revit, Grasshopper, Python, C#, and the Revit API.
• Build, test, validate, and document proofs of concept against real project needs and conditions.
• Coordinate with development and platform teams to transition prototypes into scalable BIM-integrated tools and firmwide workflows.
• Ensure automations are maintainable, aligned with project delivery standards, and ready for handoff when appropriate.
