Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team seeks a Computational Designer to advance automation and design-technology innovations across architecture, engineering, BIM, and digital delivery workflows. You’ll translate project needs into scalable BIM tools and reusable computational workflows for complex facilities.

You will collaborate with senior designers, engineers, and project teams to prototype, validate, and implement concepts, ensuring reliable handoffs and firmwide adoption of new processes.

Qualifications

• Advanced expertise in Rhino, Grasshopper, Revit, Dynamo, Rhino.Inside.Revit, Speckle, the Revit API, and custom computational design components.
• Experience with BIM-integrated computational workflows and project-ready automation.
• Proficiency in scripting or programming (Python, C#, JavaScript) with emphasis on reliability and maintainability.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools to explore, prototype, debug, or extend computational design workflows.

Responsibilities

• Apply computational design methods to mission critical, data center, industrial, advanced manufacturing, and other technically complex building projects.
• Develop parametric and data-driven workflows connecting geometry, program, criteria, engineering inputs and layouts.
• Support early design exploration, layout evaluation, and decision-making through practical computational methods.
• Work across architecture, electrical, mechanical, structural, and digital delivery teams to improve coordination and reduce rework.
