Job summary

Fundbox in New York seeks an experienced Compliance Officer to lead regulatory change and advisory efforts, turning requirements into clear guidance for Product, Business Development and Marketing. This senior role reports to the Head of Compliance and wields real decision-making authority across compliance pillars.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in compliance within financial services, with small business lending experience.
• Experience advising product, engineering, marketing, and business development during development and post-launch.
• Hands-on ownership of marketing/materials review, policy governance, regulatory change management, third-party risk, and complaint management.
• Knowledge of lending and payments regulatory requirements (UDAP/UDAAP, ECOA/ Reg B, FCRA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM) and state laws; international exposure a plus.
• Experience preparing or supporting bank partner submissions, oversight reviews or exam responses.
• Strong writing; translate regulatory requirements into actionable guidance for product teams.
• Sound judgment and independence with competing priorities; proactive.
• Comfort using AI tools as an accelerator, not replacement for compliance experience.
• CRC M/CAMS or similar certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the compliance partner to Product, Business Development, Marketing, Credit, RevOps, Collections, and Customer Support across the customer and product lifecycle.
• Own compliance review of new products and programs, including input into business requirements and the design of disclosures and servicing flows.
• Translate regulatory requirements into guardrails and acceptance criteria for engineers and product managers.
• Own the marketing and materials review program: queue design, service levels, review quality, and consistency.
• Assemble and drive internal, executive, and bank partner product approval packages within compliance scope.
• Own regulatory change management, horizon scanning, applicability assessment, impact analysis, and policy updates with named owners.
• Track internal change with governance to make compliance changes visible before shipping.
• Determine downstream impact on policies, training, controls, testing, risk assessments, and vendor commitments.
• Own vendor and third-party due diligence within compliance scope and contribute to Vendor Management Team.
