Job summary

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel, Compliance to lead the North America compliance program across SEA and NA subsidiaries. The role ensures legal and ethical culture, with responsibilities spanning policy development, training, and audits.

Based in New York, NY, with possible travel to other Samsung offices in North America (US/Canada/Mexico). Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration are essential to drive risk-based decisions.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor is required.
Licensed to practice law in good standing.
10-15 years of progressive professional experience in legal and compliance.
Experience creating and effectuating corporate compliance programs and procedures and implementing training programs.
Experience in design and collection of compliance metrics.
Knowledge of government procurement laws and regulations.
Understanding of OFAC/trade sanctions; data privacy/compliance.
Experience in investigations is preferred.
Compliance risk assessment, risk management or audit experience is a plus.
Excellent leadership and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Identify compliance risks with North America businesses and design tools/frameworks to drive compliance.
Provide strategic compliance advice on business initiatives with Legal and functions as needed.
Develop, implement and maintain compliance policies, procedures and training.
Lead the compliance training program and annual refresher training.
Conduct compliance audits, lead remediation and ensure policy consistency.
Collaborate with Korea HQ compliance teams for local initiatives.
Lead or support internal compliance investigations.
