Job summary

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel based in Plano, Texas, to provide comprehensive employment and labor law guidance across SEA and North America Headquarters divisions.

The role involves counseling on wage and hour, leave, deductions, benefits, and post-termination obligations, and managing agency matters and pre-litigation negotiations. You will oversee employee litigation and arbitrations, draft and revise offer letters and incentive plans, and partner with

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited US law school.
• Bar admission in good standing; ability to become member of the Texas bar or qualify as in-house counsel in Texas.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience appearing before state and federal agencies on employment matters.
• Experience counseling employers on employment and labor matters.
• Demonstrated effectiveness with multiple stakeholders and diverse constituencies.
• Team player with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Executive presence with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, respond to and mediate agency matters (EEOC, state divisions of civil rights, Department of Labor).
• Investigate, respond to and negotiate pre-litigation claims.
• Handle employee litigation and arbitrations.
• Review and revise offer letters, agreements and incentive plans.
• Provide counseling to Human Resources and subsidiaries on employee performance training, improvement, discipline and terminations.
• Provide counseling regarding wage/hour exemptions and compliance with FLSA and state/local laws.
• Provide counseling on employee accommodations and disability laws.
• Provide counseling on FMLA compliance, leaves of absence and paid sick leave.
• Provide counseling on benefits and pay equity laws and reviews.
• Provide counseling on post-termination contractual obligations (non-compete, non-solicitation, confidentiality).
