Job summary

SMBC is seeking a Director of Compensation Accounting to own end-to-end accounting, reporting, controls and governance for personnel-related expenses. You will lead a team within the Controller/Finance organization and partner with HR, Payroll, FP&A and senior management to deliver accurate financial reporting and strategic insights.

Qualifications

• Requires strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.
• Experience with balance sheets, footnotes, and external audits.
• Experience with month-end and year-end close processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead compensation accounting across SMBC Americas.
• Oversee payroll, bonus, benefits, and deferred compensation accounting.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close; approve related journal entries.
