Job summary

San Mateo County Libraries is seeking a Senior Community Program Specialist to lead adult literacy services and programming across 13 libraries. You will design engaging programs, build partnerships, and mentor staff to deliver inclusive, multilingual learning experiences.

Reporting to the Library Services Manager, you’ll align efforts with literacy and community access goals, champion learning, and help the library adapt through evaluation and iteration. Bilingual skills are highly valued.

Qualifications

Master’s degree required or equivalent.
At least three years of experience in community programming, library services, or related field.
Experience coordinating programs and developing partnerships preferred.

Responsibilities

Design and evolve services that inspire learning, strengthen connection, and respond to community needs.
Plan, schedule, coordinate, and carry out programming, workshops, classes, and events, including outreach activities.
Provide training and support for library staff working in program areas.
Build connections and coordinate across program areas to maximize learning and community impact.
Plan outreach to community groups and agencies, including public speaking.
