Job summary

826 Boston seeks a Senior Community Engagement Coordinator to advance DEI-centered volunteer engagement and student-focused programs. You will collaborate with university partners and community groups, manage onboarding and trainings, and support ongoing volunteer communications and data collection.

The role emphasizes anti-racist/anti-oppressive practices, equity in education, and coordination with the Volunteer Management Team to support Writers’ Rooms and in-school programs.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in K-12 education or youth development nonprofit.
• Experience with volunteer management and/or direct volunteering preferred.
• Commitment to fostering community and DEI values.
• Ability to give and receive feedback with humility and tact.
• Knowledge of social and racial justice, BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ history and oppression systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Apps.
• Spanish, Cape Verdean or Haitian Creole, or Somali language skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the Volunteer Program Manager in cultivating and stewarding 300+ volunteers annually.
• Build relationships with university partners and community organizations to support service-learning opportunities and writing workshops.
• Lead community-based recruitment events and volunteer onboarding; organize trainings and communications.
• Coordinate volunteer communications systems and calendars (Salesforce, email, opportunities calendar).
• Track participation, run reports, and monitor progress toward annual goals.
• Support summer programming and intern supervision as needed.
