JE Dunn's Advanced Facilities Group (AFG) combines Mission Critical, Advanced Industries, and Industrial & Manufacturing into one high-performing team focused on cutting-edge work to serve innovative clients on large Industrial & Manufacturing, Data Center, and Semiconductor projects. As part of the Advanced Facilities team, you'll work on some of the most advanced construction projects across the country, growing your career alongside our diverse team of industry professionals.
Key Role Responsibilities - Core
ME Engineer Family - Core
- Learns and actively participates in all aspects of the company's safety and quality plans and culture by demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment through individual actions and mentoring others.
- Completes entry-level and routine mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities.
- Learns how to develop budgetary M/E estimates, based on program and schematic design information using automated M/E estimating systems.
- Assists in reviewing mechanical and electrical options during preconstruction and completes systems analysis for select projects.
- Learns to develop mechanical and electrical scopes of work to coordinate during the bid process.
- Assists in bid analysis and provides input during subcontractor selection.
- Assists in developing sequencing requirements of various systems and provides solutions to meet schedule requirements.
- Gains knowledge of design documents to identify potential quality issues and develop constructability review reports.
- Learns to perform job inspections to ensure specifications and expectations are met, and work is completed in a timely, quality manner.
- Learns and assists with shop drawing/submittal processes to ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Assists with commissioning, including developing pre-functional checklists, functional testing procedures, and conducting functional tests.
Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core
Senior M/E Engineer
In addition, this position will be responsible for:
- Completing increasingly complex mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities.
- Developing budgetary M/E estimates based on program and schematic design information.
- Reviewing mechanical and electrical options, completing systems analysis, and recommending the best systems for the project, including value engineering suggestions.
- Coordinating mechanical and electrical scopes during bid process.
- Developing sequencing requirements and providing solutions to meet project schedules.
- Reviewing design documents to identify potential quality issues and helping develop quality control programs.
- Performing job inspections to ensure specifications and expectations are met.
- Developing pre-functional checklists and functional testing procedures, and verifying contractor performance.
- Reviewing and approving shop drawings prior to submission to the design team.
- Generating and issuing the Commissioning Plan for approval.
- Verifying deficiencies are corrected and submitting commissioning documentation to owners.
- Providing mentorship to less experienced colleagues.
- Creating M/E tools and innovative solutions for process improvements.
- Negotiating subcontracts and purchasing equipment.
- Building client relationships and participating in interviews, presentations, and business development.
- Representing the M/E department at external community events.
- Managing resource allocation, staffing, and ensuring reimbursability.
- Leading and promoting a culture of diversity and inclusion, ensuring policy adherence throughout the organization.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and timely.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective presentation skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and construction M/E tools/software.
- Ability to read and understand plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Knowledge of project processes and construction management fundamentals.
- Ability to build strong relationships internally and externally.
- Proficiency in construction technology, scheduling software, BIM, Lean processes, and budget management.
- Experience with ASE and Lens software.
- Capability to manage projects from start to finish and prepare budgets and estimates.
- Ability to support marketing activities and manage a team.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, architectural engineering, or related field (Required).
- Equivalent relevant experience considered.
- 10+ years construction management experience (Preferred).
Working Environment
- Valid and unrestricted driver's license required.
