JE Dunn's Advanced Facilities Group (AFG) combines Mission Critical, Advanced Industries, and Industrial & Manufacturing into one high-performing team focused on cutting-edge work to serve innovative clients on large Industrial & Manufacturing, Data Center, and Semiconductor projects. As part of this team, you'll work on some of the most advanced construction projects nationwide, growing your career alongside our diverse group of industry professionals.
Key Role Responsibilities - Core
- Learn and actively participate in all aspects of the company's safety and quality plans and culture, demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment through individual actions and mentoring others.
- Complete entry-level and routine mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities.
- Develop budgetary M/E estimates based on program and schematic design information using automated M/E estimating systems.
- Assist in reviewing mechanical and electrical options during preconstruction and complete systems analysis for select projects.
- Develop the mechanical and electrical scopes of work for the bid process.
- Assist in bid analysis and subcontractor selection.
- Assist in developing sequencing requirements and solutions to meet schedule needs.
- Review design documents to identify quality issues and help develop constructability review reports.
- Perform job inspections to ensure specifications and expectations are met, ensuring quality and timely work completion.
- Assist with shop drawing/submittal processes to ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Assist with commissioning including developing pre-functional checklists, testing procedures, and conducting functional testing.
Additional Core Responsibilities - Senior M/E Engineer
- Perform more complex mechanical, electrical, and field activities.
- Develop and review budget estimates, system analyses, and value engineering suggestions.
- Coordinate scopes during bidding, develop sequencing, and provide scheduling input.
- Review design documents for quality issues and develop quality control programs.
- Conduct inspections and develop testing procedures and verify contractor performance.
- Generate and approve commissioning plans and documentation.
- Mentor less experienced colleagues, create innovative tools, and improve processes.
- Negotiate subcontracts, purchase equipment, and build client relationships.
- Participate in business development, represent JE Dunn externally, and ensure resource allocation and staffing.
- Lead and promote a culture of diversity and inclusion.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to perform work accurately, timely, and with high quality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, construction management tools, scheduling software, BIM, and Lean principles.
- Strong relationship-building and team collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage budgets, projects from start to finish, and lead teams.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering or related field required; relevant experience considered in lieu.
- 10+ years construction management experience preferred.
