Job summary

Jacobs in the United States seeks a Senior Commissioning Manager to lead multi-discipline commissioning across mechanical, electrical, controls, and process systems for large-scale power/industrial projects.

You will coordinate with engineering leadership, 3rd parties, and OEMs to develop startup sequences, validate readiness, oversee system turnover, and drive safe, on-schedule execution with rigorous QA/QC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering or related field.
• 15+ years of experience leading commissioning/startup/operations readiness in thermal power generation or heavy industrial facilities.
• Strong safety culture with ability to intervene in unsafe situations.
• Collaborative, agile, and resilient mindset with cross-functional teamwork.
• Experience leading commissioning on multiple fast-track projects.
• Experience with integrated SIMOPs phased projects where construction, commissioning, and operation overlap.
• Strong knowledge of thermal power plant systems: gas turbines, HRSG/boilers, steam cycle, fuel gas, cooling water, electrical distribution, and controls.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, control logic diagrams, electrical one-lines, specs, procedures, and turnover docs.
• Demonstrated experience managing multi-discipline commissioning teams and coordinating with construction, engineering, and OEMs.
• Strong understanding of commissioning safety practices, isolation, LOTO, QA/QC, codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily commissioning execution across mechanical, electrical, controls, and process systems.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership and 3rd parties to develop start-up and turnover sequences for each system.
• Provide input to commissioning plans, procedures, and turnover strategies aligned with milestones.
• Oversee commissioning of major equipment: gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, HRSG/boilers, pumps, compressors, fans, heat exchangers, condensers, cooling towers, and balance-of-plant.
• Coordinate with construction teams to validate mechanical completion, punch lists, and turnover packages.
• Validate pre-commissioning activities by 3rd party vendors, OEMs, and contractors.
• Review first fill, consumables, and spares strategies against the commissioning plan and risk scenarios.
• Lead system walkdowns, inspections, testing, and verification.
• Ensure compliance with procedures, OEM requirements, project specs, and standards.
• Serve as primary interface with client representatives, OEMs, and regulators during testing and acceptance.
