Liberty Bank in Hartford, CT seeks a Senior Commercial Underwriter accountable for end-to-end credit and underwriting for complex Commercial Banking and Real Estate loans. You will lead analyses, structure facilities, and oversee high-value portfolios with limited supervision.

You will mentor junior staff, monitor market/regulatory changes, and implement efficient underwriting standards across the team. This role requires deep credit expertise and strong collaboration with senior lenders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field required or preferred.
• 7–10+ years of commercial underwriting experience.
• Experience underwriting large, high-risk, or specialized credit transactions.
• Strong financial analysis and risk assessment capabilities.
• Ability to structure complex credit facilities and negotiate terms.
• Proven track record coaching underwriting staff.
• Deep understanding of credit policy and regulatory considerations.
• Ability to partner with senior lenders.

Responsabilités

• Lead high-level narrative summaries and financial statement analyses for large Commercial Banking/Real Estate loan applicants.
• Contribute to loan structuring and covenants for large-scale applications with minimal supervision.
• Manage annual reviews and ongoing oversight of high-risk portfolios, aligning risk ratings with market shifts.
• Research niche industries and emerging trends as a subject matter expert.
• Provide guidance on complex borrower requests to junior staff and Relationship Managers.
• Review and approve major payment and construction advances; assist in audits.
• Engage with customers, appraisers, brokers to gather financial data as needed.
• Support training of PDPs and underwriters to ensure data presentation excellence.
