Job summary

UMB Bank is seeking a Sr. Portfolio Manager to support loan officers in managing a Commercial & Industrial credit portfolio. This role handles the largest and most complex loans, manages credit risk, and identifies opportunities for expansion.

You will perform credit underwriting, analyze borrower financials, monitor covenants and borrowing bases, and maintain strong client relationships through direct contact and joint calls with lenders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related fields.
• 5+ years commercial banking experience including credit underwriting.
• Current valid driver’s license.
• Demonstrates strong communication skills (verbal & written).
• Knowledge of how to identify and process maturing loans, line renewals, term loans that need to be extended.
• Understanding of credit underwriting.
• Knowledge of bank products and operations.
• Ability to interpret policies, loan contracts, and credit reports.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Self-starter with initiative.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of commercial lending software.

Responsibilities

• Partner with loan officers to administer management of commercial banking relationships.
• Perform detailed credit analysis and underwriting for new and existing clients.
• Prepare credit packages for credit committee and collateral analysis.
• Monitor borrowing base reports and covenant compliance; track documentation exceptions.
• Analyze borrower financial performance and ensure covenant compliance.
• Provide recurring customer service and support, including joint calls with loan officers.
• File reports and resolve related issues promptly.
• Other duties as assigned.
