Job summary

UMB Financial Corporation in St. Louis seeks a Sr. Portfolio Manager to support loan officers in portfolio management of commercial banking relationships; you will handle large, complex loans and manage credit risk.

The role requires 5+ years of commercial banking and underwriting, with strong communication, analytical skills, and deep knowledge of credit underwriting and loan restructuring processes. You will work to uphold policy adherence and provide proactive client service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related fields.
• 5+ years commercial banking experience including credit underwriting.
• Current valid driver’s license.
• Demonstrates strong excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
• Demonstrates strong knowledge and understanding in how to identify and process maturing loans, line renewals, term loans that need to be extended, how loans can be restructured, approval process, change terms, etc.
• Demonstrates strong knowledge of credit underwriting.

Responsibilities

• Partner with loan officers to effectively administer the management of assigned commercial banking relationships.
• Perform credit underwriting duties for existing/prospective client relationships, including detailed credit analysis, loan structuring recommendations and preparation of credit packages.
• Continuously monitor borrowing base reports and covenant compliance with regular reporting requirements to loan officers and credit monitoring teams.
• Recognize and manage early warning signs for the portfolio, analyze borrower/guarantor financial performance and covenant compliance.
• Provide recurring customer service to existing and prospective clients, including joint sales calls with loan officers or direct client correspondence.
