Job summary

Lake Michigan Credit Union (LMCU) seeks a Vice President Commercial Lender in Grand Rapids, MI. This senior role leads commercial loan production, expands depository relationships, and drives portfolio growth through strong relationship management and strategic credit solutions.

You will oversee loan structuring, processing, and closing, ensuring compliance with lending regulations while supporting members’ business objectives. A Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in commercial lending are preferred.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of experience in commercial lending and portfolio management.
• Thorough knowledge of commercial lending policy, depository services, and banking operations.
• Strong financial analysis capabilities and ability to read financial statements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Active involvement in community and industry organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a strong pipeline of commercial lending opportunities to support portfolio growth.
• Develop understanding of members’ businesses, operations, financial performance, and objectives.
• Manage and deepen member relationships by cross-selling deposit products and other services.
• Provide members with insights, industry knowledge, and market trends to support decisions.
• Monitor the loan portfolio to ensure credit quality and oversee past-due credits and non-performing loans.
• Conduct regular member meetings to assess performance and identify new lending opportunities.
• Evaluate loan requests and assess creditworthiness and feasibility.
• Gather and analyze required documentation for loan approvals and closings.
• Coordinate with Credit team and other resources to ensure timely loan processing and closing.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state lending regulations and risk management standards.
