Job summary

Baker Hughes is seeking a Senior Commercial Manager for Industrial Power Generation in Houston. You will lead end-to-end proposals, drive bid strategy and pricing governance, and coordinate across Sales, Engineering, and Finance to maximize win rates and profitability.

The role emphasizes leadership, risk assessment, and governance to deliver competitive, customer-focused solutions within a global matrix organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Economics from an accredited college or university.
• 10–12 years of experience in a project-oriented organization.
• Solid technical and commercial background in Industrial Energy.
• Ability to communicate and influence at senior leadership level.
• Experience with complex multidisciplinary projects and EPC projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of commercial proposals for large and complex Power Systems opportunities coordinating multidisciplinary proposal teams.
• Define bid strategies aligned with business objectives and market conditions.
• Coordinate inputs from engineering, product management, supply chain, and service teams.
• Ensure proposals are complete, compliant, competitive, and submitted on time.
• Support strategic pursuits from early engagement through contract award.
• Drive proposal reviews, approvals, and executive presentations.
• Develop pricing strategies balancing competitiveness and profitability.
• Lead commercial risk analysis and mitigation planning.
• Assess contractual terms and negotiate commercial conditions.
• Ensure margins, assumptions, and commercial positioning are consistent.
• Act as focal point between Sales, Engineering, Finance, Legal, etc.
• Guide internal stakeholders in developing optimized customer solutions.
• Support transition from commercial phase to project execution.
• Establish best practices for bidding, tendering, and governance.
• Mentor proposal managers and tendering specialists.
• Drive continuous improvement to increase proposal quality and win rates.
