Job summary

The Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation is seeking an Assessor Supervisor, Commercial and Industrial to lead and mentor a team of commercial assessors in Anne Arundel County. You will oversee reassessments, inspections, sales analyses, new construction valuations and appeals to ensure accurate, equitable property valuations for tax purposes.

Strong leadership, analytic, organizational and communication skills are essential to manage complex cases, deadlines and stakeholder

Qualifications

• Eight years of experience in real property appraisal, including six years in appraisal and two years in tax assessment valuation of commercial/industrial real property.
• Completion of IAS AO Course 101, 102 and 300 or equivalent courses; substitutions allowed for degree or military service as specified.
• Knowledge of Maryland property tax laws, assessment procedures and mass appraisal methods.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate and evaluate commercial assessors for timely, accurate valuation.
• Oversee commercial reassessments, inspections, sales analyses and new construction valuations.
• Administer appeals, PTAAB and MD Tax Court prep and conduct hearings.
• Provide training, guidance and performance monitoring; maintain QA on database valuation system (CAMA/AAVS).
• Review transfers, code permits, and maintain database accuracy; prepare managerial reports.
