Job summary

The Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT) seeks a capable leader to manage the Frederick County Assessment Office, directing valuation of real property, supervising professional and clerical staff, and ensuring accurate and timely assessments in line with statewide standards.

The role engages with local government partners, residents and businesses, overseeing reassessment cycles, HR processes, new construction tracking in the AAVS system, and coordinating with agencies to

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Two years of experience in a responsible management position or in real property valuation.
Additional experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

Oversee office operations to meet established standards and allocate tasks accordingly.
Ensure reassessment work is completed timely and with uniformity.
Oversee data entry and correct coding of sales in the AAVS system.
Coordinate HR activities including performance evaluations, hires, promotions, and grievances.
Schedule and monitor new construction, tracking permits in AAVS.
Respond to inquiries from residents, property owners, and other agencies; represent the department at meetings.
