Job summary

MGM Resorts International is seeking a Staff Commercial Data Engineer to architect and elevate our Marketing and Revenue Management data platforms powering commercial decision-making across Gaming, Hospitality, Loyalty, and Marketing. This senior role defines architectural direction for our Lakehouse ecosystem, ensuring reliability, governance, and business-aligned data solutions.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years in data engineering, 5+ years with Databricks/Spark, and deep Delta Lake

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data engineering, data platform, or analytics engineering.
• 5+ years hands-on experience with Databricks or Spark environments.
• Expertise in Databricks and Lakehouse architecture.
• Strong Python, PySpark, and SQL coding skills.
• Experience with Unity Catalog governance and permissions.
• Proven data quality frameworks and observability implementations.
• Deep Delta Lake internals knowledge and distributed processing.

Responsibilities

• Serve as architectural owner for Marketing and Revenue Management data models and metrics.
• Design and maintain certified datasets aligned to business logic and reporting.
• Architect and optimize high-scale Lakehouse solutions for performance and governance.
• Define conventions for partitioning, Z-ordering, file compaction, cluster sizing, and workload orchestration.
• Build reusable ingestion, validation, and orchestration frameworks.
• Establish observability standards including freshness SLAs and schema drift monitoring.
• Implement automated quality gates, impact analysis, and self-healing workflows.
• Lead incident response and remediation strategies; mentor engineers.
