Job summary

Bank of America in Newport Beach is seeking an experienced Underwriter for the Global Commercial Banking credit team. You will assess middle-market loan opportunities, structure transactions, and monitor a diverse portfolio in a fast-paced environment.

You will partner with Relationship Management, Risk, Debt Capital Markets, Investment Banking and other product teams to analyze lending opportunities, perform due diligence, and create comprehensive credit approval packages.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree required
• 5+ Years of Commercial Banking underwriting experience
• Proficiency in accounting principles and financial statement analysis
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Responsibilities

• Partner with credit teammates and product teams to develop debt financing solutions
• Structure bilateral and syndicated loans aligned with client needs and risk parameters
• Analyze credit exposure for treasury, rates, and FX products
• Perform due diligence and dynamic risk assessments of borrowers and transactions
• Create credit approval packages and manage the approval process from initiation to final decision
• Build detailed financial cash flow and repayment models with sensitivity analyses
• Conduct enterprise value, pricing, returns and risk rating models
• Ensure adherence to regulatory and internal policies and procedures
• Present opportunities to credit and risk leadership
• Collaborate with legal partners to produce loan documentation
• Oversee quarterly monitoring and covenant compliance
