Job summary

Bank of America is seeking an experienced Underwriter for the Global Commercial Banking credit team to underwrite loans and credit exposure for a middle-market portfolio across multiple industries with revenues from $50M to $2B.

You will partner with Relationship Management and other product teams to structure debt financing, perform due diligence, and monitor portfolios in Houston, Dallas and Clayton markets while reporting to a Senior Credit Manager.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree required.
• 3 to 10 years of Commercial Banking underwriting experience.
• Proficiency in accounting principles, financial statement analysis and financial modeling.
• Solid foundation in credit analysis, including evaluation of business risk, industry trends and capital structures.
• Understanding of credit documentation, including term sheets, credit agreements and ancillary agreements (e.g. security, guarantee and intercreditor agreements)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Unwavering attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
• Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple transactions and responsibilities at a time.

Responsibilities

• Partner with credit teammates, relationship management and product teams to develop strategic debt financing solutions.
• Employ credit and accounting knowledge to structure bilateral and syndicated loans aligned with client needs and bank risk parameters.
• Analyze ancillary credit exposure for treasury, rates and foreign exchange products.
• Perform due diligence and dynamic risk assessments of borrowers, industries and transactions.
• Create credit approval packages and own the credit approval process from initiation through final decision.
• Construct detailed financial cash flow and repayment models, including sensitivity analyses.
• Complete enterprise value (discounted cash flow), pricing, returns and risk rating models.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory and internal policies and procedures.
• Exercise approval authority for certain credit actions.
• Present well supported opportunities to credit and risk leadership.
• Partner with internal and external legal partners to complete loan documentation.
• Oversee quarterly monitoring exercises and requirements.
