OpenAI is seeking an Associate General Counsel, Commercial – Infrastructure in San Francisco to lead legal work for data center development and colocation projects. You will craft and negotiate complex infrastructure agreements and work with cross‑functional teams to move initiatives quickly and responsibly.

The role requires deep experience in data center transactions, strong business judgment, and the ability to operate autonomously in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of legal experience, primarily in commercial roles.
• Hands-on drafting, negotiating, and advising on colocation and data center agreements.
• Experience with first‑party data center builds, power arrangements, and related infra matters.
• Ability to lead high‑value commercial infrastructure transactions.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial legal strategy and risk management for data center development and colocation transactions.
• Draft, negotiate, and advise on colocation, construction, power arrangements, and related contracts.
• Support projects involving raw land, site rights, EPC models, build‑to‑suit, and leasebacks.
• Collaborate across infrastructure, finance, procurement, and operations teams.
• Manage outside counsel across a high volume of infrastructure matters.
• Develop scalable legal playbooks for a growing portfolio of sites.
