Job summary

gpac is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Project Manager in the Kansas City area to lead diverse projects from preconstruction to closeout. You will oversee schedules, budgets, quality, and client expectations, coordinating with subcontractors, architects, and field teams.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in commercial construction project management and a strong background in ground-up, restoration, and government/public works.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial construction project management experience.
• Experience with general contracting and commercial construction.
• Strong knowledge of contracts, plans, specs, and project documentation.
• Proven ability to manage project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and change orders.
• Excellent communication, organization, negotiation, and leadership skills.
• Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through completion and closeout.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, cost reports, and forecasts.
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, inspectors, and field personnel.
• Review contracts, plans, specifications, scopes of work, and project requirements.
• Manage project buyout, procurement, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and pay applications.
• Monitor project costs and profitability while identifying potential budget issues.
• Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication with clients and project stakeholders.
• Work closely with Superintendents and field teams to ensure projects remain on schedule and meet quality standards.
• Manage restoration and renovation projects while minimizing disruption to occupied facilities when applicable.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements on public and government projects.
• Identify and resolve project issues, conflicts, and scheduling challenges.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and provide regular updates to company leadership.
• Build and maintain strong client and subcontractor relationships.
• Oversee project closeout, punch lists, warranty requirements, and final documentation.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field
