Job summary

S. B. Ballard Construction Co. in Virginia Beach, VA seeks an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team. You will analyze drawings, prepare detailed estimates, and develop cost plans from concept through final stages.

Candidates should have strong takeoff skills, MS Office proficiency, OST/Bluebeam experience, and a track record in design-build or CM@Risk environments.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction estimating with knowledge of means and methods.
• Able to analyze drawings, specifications and project requirements.
• Proficient in Excel and document administration practices.
• Experience with OST and Bluebeam preferred; LEED/DBIA certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from plans and specs.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subs.
• Develop conceptual, preliminary, and final estimates during design.
• Identify cost-saving alternatives and value engineering options.
• Assemble bid proposals and pricing summaries.
• Solicit, review, and level subcontractor bids.
• Collaborate with estimating team to reconcile scopes.
• Ensure bids comply with project requirements and deadlines.
• Prepare reports for management and clients.
• Assist with client presentation preparation.
