Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Lead Construction Estimator and Preconstruction professional in Virginia Beach, VA. This role leads estimators, develops detailed and conceptual cost estimates, guides bid opportunities, and collaborates with Owners, Architects, subcontractors, and suppliers to finalize pricing.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of estimating experience, excels at reading plans and specs, and is proficient with Excel, Microsoft Project, and On‑Screen Take‑Off, with the ability to manage

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of construction estimating experience with complex bids.
• Experience leading Estimators or preconstruction teams.
• Strong ability to read plans, specs, drawings, and documents.
• Experience developing complete estimates and bids.
• Experience with design-build projects and pricing refinement.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and take-off software.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to present to Owners/Architects.

Responsibilities

• Determine scope and cost requirements for construction projects.
• Manage estimators and preconstruction team members.
• Collaborate to establish project scope with the preconstruction team.
• Review plans, specs, and drawings to determine scope.
• Develop and maintain overall construction cost estimates and bids.
• Collaborate on presentations and proposals.
• Review design options and price accordingly.
• Develop project schedules and associated costs for equipment, labor, and supervision.
• Adjust estimates during bid day and throughout estimating process.
• Lead design-build teams in refining scope and pricing.
• Develop conceptual estimates from incomplete information.
• Lead bid opportunities and meetings with Owners/Architects.
