Job summary

BG Staffing seeks an Operating Engineer for our Overland Park, KS facility. This role focuses on safe, efficient operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of commercial building mechanical systems with a strong HVAC background.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and monitoring of EMS, chillers, pumps, and distribution systems. Requires 5+ years of experience, technical training, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

5+ years of related experience in a commercial property or facility setting.
Technical, vocational, or on-the-job training in operation, maintenance, and basic repair of HVAC systems, boilers, pumps, refrigeration, and related equipment.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word).
Valid driver's license with insurable driving record.
Universal CFC/Refrigerant Technician certification may be required depending on local regulations.

Responsibilities

Maintain and troubleshoot heating equipment, chillers (air- and water-cooled), DX units, pumps, cooling towers, fan coil units, VAV systems, air distribution systems, and related building equipment.
Verify field conditions and perform repairs, adjustments, and preventive maintenance.
Monitor building equipment and EMS; respond to system alerts and equipment issues.
Perform preventive maintenance: change filters, clean coils, grease bearings, inspect belts, replace motor bearings, and maintain water treatment systems.
Inspect mechanical equipment rooms, replace lamps, ensure cleanliness and safe access, and conduct fire and life-safety inspections as required.
